In North Carolina, I-95 runs diagonally across the eastern third of the state, from Rowland in the southwest to Roanoke Rapids in the northeast of the Inner Banks. ==Route description== Interstate 95 in North Carolina serves as the informal western border of the Inner Banks region of the state. I-95 begins at the South Carolina state line near Rowland, Robeson County and Pleasant Hill, Northampton County near the Virginia state line. US 301 follows the same route as I-95 through North Carolina; they both enter the state at South of the Border, overlap together around Lumberton, and share multiple interchanges before reaching Virginia.
